President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has named People’s Television Network (PTV-4) General Manager Lino Cayetano as the new secretary of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), replacing Dave Gomez, whose appointment was bypassed by the Commission on Appointments (CA).

Marcos announced the leadership change during a media interview in Singapore on Sunday, October 11, at the conclusion of his five-day working visit.

The President said Cayetano would immediately take over the position, with the appointment to be formalized upon their return to the Philippines.

“Na-bypass si Dave, so I guess, immediately, at least, who will take his place is Lino,” Marcos said.

He added that the transition was a matter of formalizing the necessary arrangements, but did not specify an exact date for Cayetano’s assumption of office.

Cayetano, who was appointed PTV-4 general manager in June 2026, will become the sixth official to head the PCO under the Marcos administration, following Trixie Cruz-Angeles, Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil, Cesar Chavez, Jay Ruiz and Gomez.

Before joining the state-run television network, Cayetano served as Taguig City mayor from 2019 to 2022 and represented the city’s second congressional district from 2013 to 2016. He also worked as a television director and creative consultant.

He is the younger brother of Senators Alan Peter Cayetano and Pia Cayetano, who are both members of the Senate minority bloc.

Meanwhile, Marcos also confirmed that Information and Communications Technology Secretary Henry Aguda had resigned from his Cabinet. However, the President said Malacañang had delayed announcing the resignation while looking for a replacement.

Marcos also clarified that Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon would not immediately return to the Department of Transportation, although he acknowledged that changes in Cabinet assignments remained possible.
