President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. led the turnover and inspection of the Learning Continuity Space (LCS) and the rollout of the YAKAP at Kalinga Caravan at the Marcelo B. Fernan-Polambato Elementary School in Bogo City, Cebu on Monday, March 16.
The President personally inspected the newly established LCS, a facility designed to ensure that students can continue their education despite disruptions caused by disasters.
According to the Department of Education (DepEd), the initiative is part of the agency’s rapid response to support uninterrupted learning for students affected by calamities.
"Ang LCS units ay bahagi ng mabilisang pagtugon sa pagkaantala ng klase matapos masira ang mga gusali ng paaralan dahil sa pagtama ng 6.9 magnitude na lindol noong Setyembre 30, 2025," DepEd said.
Each LCS unit is equipped with a restroom, a solar power system, and internet connectivity to ensure a safer and more effective learning environment while repairs are being made to the damaged school buildings, according to the department.
Marcos was joined by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara.
During the event, the President also led the rollout of the YAKAP at Kalinga Caravan, which delivers primary healthcare and essential services to students, teachers, and residents in the community.
The programs aim to help ensure that children’s education continues while providing much-needed medical services to teachers and local residents in the aftermath of the 2025 Cebu earthquake.
The initiatives were launched following the September 2025 earthquake that affected several areas in Cebu, including Bogo City, disrupting school operations and damaging learning facilities.
