Despite the ongoing process surrounding the impeachment complaints filed against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., the Palace said that the President has not yet formed a legal team to address the cases.
During a press briefing on Tuesday, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro stressed that Marcos would respect the impeachment process after the House Committee on Justice on Monday declared two impeachment complaints filed against President Marcos Jr. “sufficient in form.”
“Ang sabi lang niya ay nariyan ang proseso. At kung anong proseso, igagalang niya,” Castro said.
“Aalamin na lang natin kung anong mangyayari sa proseso. So kapag nandyan naman po ‘yung proseso, sasagot na lamang po ang Pangulo,” she said.
According to Castro, the complaints are still undergoing preliminary proceedings, and no formal engagement from the President’s side is necessary at this point.
The House Committee on Justice is scheduled to vote on Wednesday, February 4, on whether the two impeachment complaints against the President are "sufficient in substance."
