President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. welcomed the Philippines’ improved performance in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), particularly in reading, mathematics and science.

In a statement on Monday, Marcos said the Philippines was among the few education systems that recorded improvements across all three domains and described the country as one of the world’s fastest-improving education systems, particularly in reading proficiency.

The president said the results showed the capability and dedication of Filipino students, as well as the ability of teachers to perform well when given adequate support.

“Muli ay napapatunayan kung gaano kagagaling ang ating mga magaaral na sila ay masipag at seryoso sa kanilang pagaaral at kung gaano galing ang ating mga guro basta’t sila ay suportado nang tama,” Marcos said.

The PISA assessment, administered by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, measures the ability of 15-year-old students to apply knowledge and skills in reading, mathematics and science.
