President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. urged Filipinos to embody courage, unity, and love for country as the nation commemorates Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) on April 9.
In his official message, Marcos honored the bravery and sacrifice of Filipino soldiers who fought in Bataan and Corregidor during World War II, emphasizing that their heroism continues to inspire the present generation.
“Ngayong araw, inaalala natin ang tapang at sakripisyo ng mga Pilipinong tumindig para sa ating kalayaan,” the President said, recalling the historic significance of the Filipino defenders’ resistance against foreign forces.
He stressed that the spirit of valor remains alive among Filipinos today, not only in history but in everyday efforts to rebuild and improve the nation.
The Chief Executive noted that while challenges may have evolved over time, the values needed to overcome them remain unchanged—compassion, unity, and patriotism.
Marcos also called on Filipinos to practice heroism in their daily lives through responsible decision-making, helping others, and standing up for what is right.
He underscored that a nation’s true strength is measured not only by its victories but by its resilience in the face of adversity.
The President concluded his message by encouraging Filipinos to remain inspired by the legacy of valor and to work together toward a better future.
