President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. called on the faithful to live with "greater faith, humility, and compassion" as the nation observed Good Friday.
In a message posted on his social media accounts, Marcos reflected on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, commemorating His crucifixion and death at Calvary.
“Today, we stand before the Cross. In silence, in reflection, in gratitude. For in it, we see a love that did not turn away from suffering, but chose to embrace it for each one of us,” Marcos said.
He added, “May this day call us to live with greater faith, humility, and compassion.”
Good Friday is observed by Christians worldwide as a solemn day that remembers the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus for humanity’s sins.
It emphasizes Jesus’ crucifixion and death before His resurrection on Easter Sunday.
