President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has assured Filipinos that the government is fully prepared to provide assistance before, during, and after the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Opong, according to a report by RH Leth Narcisso.
The President said all necessary aid—including food, medicine, and other essentials—has been prepositioned by concerned government agencies for communities expected to be affected by the storm.
Marcos earlier ordered a full government mobilization, directing the inter-agency task force to ensure that all available assets are ready for immediate deployment, especially in areas projected to be directly hit by Opong.
Meanwhile, despite some changes in his official schedule due to the weather situation, some of Marcos’ engagements will continue. At Malacañang, the President will lead the “Kumustahan ng Pamilyang Matatag” event with the First Family, together with model beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilya program.
Later in the day, Marcos is set to visit San Fernando, La Union to distribute aid to farmers and families previously affected by Typhoon Nando.
