Marcos appoints UP Law Dean Darlene Berberabe as new Solicitor General

Atty. Darlene Marie Berberabe, Dean of the University of the Philippines (UP) College of Law, has been appointed the new Solicitor General, replacing Atty. Menardo Guevarra.

Berberabe officially took her oath of office before President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. today, May 29.

Beyond her academic credentials, the new Solicitor General also brings management experience, having previously served as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Pag-IBIG Fund.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of the Philippines, graduating summa cum laude and serving as class valedictorian. Berberabe also completed her Bachelor of Laws at UP, graduating as class salutatorian.

Furthermore, she previously served as Senior Counsel and was a member of the Leadership Team at Procter & Gamble Philippines.

Along with Berberabe, Engr. Jose Ramon Aliling was also sworn in as the new Secretary of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), replacing Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar, who now serves as Presidential Adviser for Pasig River Development.
