President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed Social Security System (SSS) President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Joseph de Claro as the new secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), replacing resigned chief Henry Aguda.
Marcos announced the appointment during the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected officers of Malacañang media groups on Tuesday.
“I have already signed the interim appointment of the new DICT secretary, Robert Joseph de Claro, who is the current SSS president and CEO. But he also, besides that, he also has a very strong background in terms of the digital economy, the digital world,” Marcos said.
The President cited de Claro’s background in the digital economy and technology as among the qualifications for his new role.
De Claro’s appointment comes following Aguda’s resignation from the DICT leadership.
