President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. appointed former journalist Dave Gomez as the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro announced Thursday, July 10.
“Secretary Gomez brings decades of experience in journalism, government, and corporate communications, having served as a senior reporter, director-general of the Philippine Information Agency, and communications director at PMFTC, Inc.,” Castro said in a Palace briefing.
“Secretary Dave will ensure clear and thoughtful government messaging for every Filipino,” she added.
Meanwhile, outgoing PCO Secretary Jay Ruiz will be part of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) board of directors in Taiwan.
Subsequently, Castro announced that Atty. Sharon Garin had also been appointed as Secretary of the Department of Energy (DOE). Castro stated that Garin is a lawyer and certified public accountant (CPA) with extensive experience in public service.
“Having served as a multi-term Iloilo Representative and DOE Undersecretary with a strong background in energy policy and legislation to advance accessible, reliable, and sustainable energy for our people,” Castro said.
“We look forward to their leadership as we strengthen government communications and secure our country’s energy needs under Bagong Pilipinas,” she added.
