President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. on Monday, January 29, said former President Rodrigo Rodrigo has been using fentanyl drug for "a very long time" which he believes the reason behind the latter's behavior.
Speaking to reporters in an ambush interview after delivering his departure speech in Pasay City, Marcos said he learned about Duterte's alleged fentanyl usage between 2018 or 2019.
"Ako, I think it's the fentanyl. Fentanyl is the strongest painkiller that you can buy. It is highly addictive and it has very serious side effects. PRRD has been taking the drug for a very long time now," he said.
"When was the last time he told us that he was taking fentanyl, mga 5 or 6 years ago? Something like that. After 5 or 6 years, it has affected him kaya palagay ko nagkakaganyan," Marcos continued.
The President hoped that doctors are not neglecting and been taking care of Duterte.
Marcos, however, was mum and just laughed when asked to respond to Duterte's accusation that he is "a drug addict."
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency has already stated that Marcos was not included in its drug watch list.
The President is bound to Hanoi, Vietnam to conduct his state visit that will span from January 29 to January 31. He was inivited by Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong.
According to the Presidential Communications Office, the Marcos is expected to discuss "important regional and international issues" and "agricultural cooperation" with Vietnam officials.
