Sen. Rodante Marcoleta said Monday he would submit to legal processes and “not hide” as he faced a plunder case, following the issuance of an arrest warrant against him by the Sandiganbayan.

Speaking to reporters after presenting himself to authorities, Marcoleta emphasized his willingness to cooperate with the law and respect court proceedings.

“Kagaya ng sinabi ko sa inyo, ako ay hindi magtatago, haharapin ko ang batas,” he said.

Marcoleta said he had expected the development when he appeared earlier at the anti-graft court for a scheduled hearing on motions filed by his camp, including a motion to quash the charges and a motion to defer the issuance of a warrant of arrest.

The senator further acknowledged the court’s finding of probable cause, which led to the issuance of the arrest warrant, and said it should be respected as part of due process.

“Ang sinabi ng Sandiganbayan, meron na silang determination of probable cause kaya sila nag-issue ng warrant of arrest. Igalang natin ‘yon,” he added.

Marcoleta also thanked the court for promptly scheduling the hearing on his motions, saying it demonstrated that legal procedures were being followed.

Despite the case, he said his legal team would continue to challenge the charges through proper channels.

“Ang aking mga abogado ay gumawa rin ng paraan para sa ganoon ay i-counter naman yung asunto,” he said.

Marcoleta is facing a plunder charge filed by the Office of the Ombudsman before the Sandiganbayan Third Division, along with former congressman Mike Defensor and two businessmen. No bail is recommended for the offense under Philippine law.
