More than a hundred students walked out of their classes on Wednesday, October 15, during a walk-out protest calling for transparency and accountability in the government’s investigation into the alleged irregularities surrounding the Infrastructure and Construction Initiative’s (ICI) flood control projects.
Holding placards that read “Make the investigation public” and “Their luxury, our misery,” the protesters urged authorities to release the findings of the ongoing probe, emphasizing that the public deserves to know the truth behind the alleged anomalies.
The students said their walkout aimed to send a strong message that the youth will not remain silent in the face of corruption, especially while ordinary citizens continue to suffer from the consequences of misused public funds.
The group vowed to sustain their protest actions, warning that more demonstrations are being planned in the coming days if concerned agencies continue to remain silent on the issue.
The protest adds to the growing public pressure toward the ICI and relevant government offices to disclose the results of their investigation into alleged anomalies in flood control projects across the country.
