The Department of Tourism (DOT) has introduced a new transit tour option for international passengers with long layovers at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), offering eligible travelers a chance to briefly explore parts of Metro Manila while waiting for their connecting flights.

Called the DOT Transit Tour Program, the initiative will begin on January 16 and is open to international transit passengers with at least an eight-hour layover, provided they are from visa-free countries or hold valid Philippine visas.

Participants must also have carry-on luggage only and a connecting flight departing from the same terminal.

Under the program, passengers may join a four-hour guided tour that allows them to clear immigration and visit selected heritage and lifestyle destinations in and around Manila.

Morning routes include heritage sites such as Intramuros and the National Museum, while afternoon routes focus on entertainment and leisure destinations in Pasay and Parañaque, including major integrated resort complexes.

Tours will operate from Friday to Sunday, with destinations determined by a fixed schedule. The cost of the transit tour is USD 50, which covers round-trip air-conditioned transportation, entrance fees, a DOT-accredited tour guide, travel insurance, light refreshments, and on-ground assistance. A police officer will also be onboard during the tour.

According to the DOT, the program is intended to provide transit passengers with an option to leave the airport during extended layovers while maintaining safety, time management, and coordination with flight schedules.

Tourism officials said the initiative also seeks to improve the overall airport-to-city experience for travelers passing through Manila.

Eligible passengers may book the transit tour online through the LovePH Tourism website or Philippine Airlines, register at the Transit Tour Concierge Desk at NAIA Terminal 3, or book through DOT partner tour operators.
