Various groups mounted a protest at a portion of Kalaw Avenue, Manila to protest the United States and Israel’s aggression against Iran, reported RH 29 Boy Gonzales on Tuesday.
Secretary General Mong Palatino of Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN), the group leading the protest, said that the US’ actions have not been just, especially as the strikes have also affected innocent civilians—particularly Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Iran who may be harmed amid heightened hostilities.
The group also appealed to the government to remove American bases under the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA). They called for the removal of their missiles and the departure of American soldiers.
In addition, BAYAN underscored that the Philippines must never let the US use the country in its attacks.
The protest began at the corner of Kalaw and Taft Avenue, the protesters intending to march to the US Embassy in Manila. However, they were blocked by authorities before they could reach Roxas Boulevard.
