Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso announced on Friday, February 20, that 13 child patients will receive fresh financial assistance from the city government to support liver transplants, heart operations, and kidney surgery in local and overseas medical facilities.

Eight children scheduled for liver transplants in India will receive a combined ₱13,321,629.80, while four patients set to undergo heart surgery at the Philippine Heart Center will be granted ₱3,323,311.50.

Another child needing surgery for a chronic kidney condition at Chinese General Hospital will receive ₱173,616.19. The total financial assistance amounts to ₱16,818,557.49.

During his “Talk to the Patients” meeting with families, Domagoso reminded beneficiaries to remain grateful and prayerful, emphasizing that the funds came from Manila taxpayers despite the city’s limited resources.

He assured families that checks would be directly deposited to the respective hospitals, including those in India, while advising them to keep personal savings for post-operation expenses.

The mayor acknowledged the city’s fiscal constraints but stressed that saving children’s lives remains a priority. He also encouraged families to continue praying for the success of the surgeries, expressing hope for the patients’ safe recovery.
