The expanded number coding scheme in Manila is suspended on Wednesday, June 24, as the city marks Manila Day 2026.
The Manila City Government, through the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB), announced the suspension, allowing all vehicles to use city roads regardless of their license plate numbers.
The number coding scheme is usually implemented to ease traffic congestion by restricting vehicles based on the last digit of their plate numbers.
Motorists are advised to plan their trips accordingly and allow extra travel time, as traffic conditions may shift and congestion is expected in parts of the city due to holiday activities and the absence of coding restrictions.
Manila Day, observed every June 24, commemorates the founding anniversary of the city.
