Crime in Manila declined by 13% in the fourth quarter of 2025, according to the Manila Police District (MPD).

Focused crimes, or serious offenses, in Metro Manila also fell by 24% in the first 20 days of 2026. Police Major General Anthony Aberin, Chief of the PNP-NCRPO, reported significant decreases in several crime categories compared to the same period last year.

From January 1 to 20, 2026, rape incidents fell by 67%, carjacking by 89%, and motorcycle theft by 60%. Other serious crimes, including murder, also declined by 32%, Aberin said.

The drop in crime was observed across multiple cities in Metro Manila. Authorities credited the decline to intensified visible patrols, intelligence-driven operations, and ongoing campaigns against illegal drugs, firearms, and gambling.

“It is clear from these numbers that our efforts are effective. This is the result of a stronger police presence, faster response times, and improved police-community relations, achieved through consistent implementation of crime prevention and law enforcement strategies on the ground,” Aberin said.

He added, “The MPD assures the public that it will continue building on these gains and remains unwavering in its commitment to protect lives, uphold the law, and serve the people of Manila with integrity and dedication.”
