The Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 12 has granted former Negros Oriental 3rd District Rep. Arnolfo Teves’ motion for bail in connection with a murder case on Friday.

In a 29-page order dated September 10, the court fixed the bail to ₱120,000 for his temporary liberty, reported RH 29 Boy Gonzales.

However, Teves’ immediate release remains uncertain due to his other major, pending cases, namely:

  • One murder case before the Manila RTC Branch 15

  • One murder case before the Bayawan RTC Branch 63

  • A case of illegal possession of firearms and explosives before the Manila RTC Branch 12

  • Cases under the Terrorist Financing Prevention and Suppression Act before the Quezon RTC Branch 77

However, this development is still a favorable one, said his lawyer, Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, as it serves as a “good manifestation” for his client’s other bail petitions.

The murder case Teves has been granted bail for involves the fatal shooting of Lester Bato, Basay, Negros Oriental, mayoral candidate Cliff Cordova’s bodyguard, in 2019, in which Teves is believed to be the mastermind.
