Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso assured that the city government will immediately act on the financial difficulties facing the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM), which he said is on the brink of bankruptcy.

Speaking during the 26th City Government Directional Meeting on January 19, Moreno revealed that PLM has not received sufficient funding for six quarters, placing a strain on its operations. While the city has already provided subsidies, the mayor admitted these were still inadequate to fully address the university’s financial needs.

Moreno stressed that the city government will confront the issue head-on to ensure the continued delivery of quality education for Manila’s students. He emphasized PLM’s role in producing top-notch graduates and underscored the importance of sustaining the university’s academic standards and services.

The mayor’s commitment signals renewed efforts by the city to stabilize PLM’s finances and protect the welfare of its students, faculty, and staff amid ongoing funding challenges.
