A 26-year-old male was injured after being shot by an unknown suspect in an alleyway in Binondo, Manila in the early morning hours of Friday.

The victim, who was identified as Francisco Compañero, is a resident of the area. He was shot in the alleyway at Gate 54 Area C, Parola Compound, Barangay 275. According to the Manila Police District (MPD) - Delpan Police Station’s report, the incident occurred at around 2:41 a.m.

Compañero’s live-in partner said that he left to urinate outside their home. After a few minutes, she heard a gunshot. Then, a neighbor told her the victim had been shot, according to a report aired on Damdaming Bayan.

Residents in the area quickly brought Compañero to the Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center, where he is currently receiving treatment.

The police have conducted an initial investigation at the hospital and the scene of the crime itself. The MPD Forensic Unit has been informed and will handle the processing of the scene.

Further investigation is ongoing to uncover the suspect’s identity and to facilitate their arrest.
