The Manila Police District (MPD) Ermita Police Station 5 rescued a man padlocked inside an establishment along Roxas Boulevard, Manila, according to a Monday report.
In a report by RH 29 Boy Gonzales, the incident occurred following an altercation between the owner of a building and their tenant.
Authorities learned that the victim was trapped in the establishment without food, water, or electricity for two days after it was closed and locked.
The tenant was identified as Nicole Yabut, who sought police assistance when she discovered that her employee was trapped inside the locked establishment.
Yabut said she had assigned the victim to watch over their belongings after the building owner allegedly decided to evict them due to an issue with rent. She stressed that she and the owner had an operative lease agreement, where she was set to launch her business.
According to the victim’s account, he was unable to leave the premises because a guard was stationed outside. He sent a video of himself locked inside to Yabut as evidence.
