A 34-year-old man lost his life after drowning in a swimming pool at a celebration at Binondo, Manila, early Tuesday, May 5.

The victim, identified as “Kristopher,” was a resident of Quiapo, Manila, RH Boy Gonzales reported.

Based on the initial investigation, police said the incident occurred at around 2:50 AM on the 36th floor of the World Trade Exchange Building. The victim was attending the 32nd anniversary celebration of True Brown Style (TBS) when he suddenly jumped into the pool.

Moments later, he was found unconscious.

He was immediately taken to the nearest hospital, but was declared dead on arrival at 3:01 AM.

Doctors told authorities that the cause of death was asphyxiation, possibly due to drowning and blunt head trauma. Autopsy revealed that the victim sustained a laceration on his right eyebrow.

Meanwhile, the organizer told police that the victim jumped into the pool of his own accord.

Investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
