A 35-year-old man was apprehended for allegedly entering a restricted area of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 without authorization on October 7, 2026, police said.
According to the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP AVSEGROUP), the incident was reported to NAIA Police Station 1 after the man was spotted inside a restricted airfield operational area.
Police personnel, in coordination with the General Aviation Police Station, responded to the report and took the man into custody for investigation.
Initial verification showed that the suspect allegedly climbed over a perimeter fence from a retail establishment to gain unauthorized access to the restricted premises.
He was subsequently brought to NAIA Police Station 1 for documentation and appropriate legal action.
A background check through the PNP e-Warrant system yielded no derogatory records against the suspect. Meanwhile, a representative of the New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC) expressed the intention to file a complaint over the alleged unauthorized entry.
The suspect remains under the custody of NAIA Police Station 1 pending the preparation of documents for inquest proceedings.
The incident involves an alleged violation of Article 281 of the Revised Penal Code, in relation to Chapter XI, Section 81(B)(5) of Republic Act No. 9497, or the Civil Aviation Authority Act of 2008.
PNP AVSEGROUP Director PBGEN Dionisio B. Bartolome Jr. said the swift response and coordination among personnel helped address the incident and maintain airport security.
