A police officer assigned in Malolos City has been relieved from duty, disarmed, and placed under restrictive custody following a viral CCTV footage showing alleged domestic abuse.
In a statement, the Philippine National Police (PNP) declared the incident is being treated with “utmost seriousness,” adding that both administrative and criminal proceedings have been initiated in coordination with concerned authorities.
“The concerned personnel has already been relieved from post, placed under restrictive custody, and disarmed pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation,” said PNP chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.
The PNP said it does not tolerate misconduct and assured that accountability will be applied regardless of rank or position. It also appealed to the public to refrain from spreading unverified information while the investigation is ongoing.
At the local level, the Malolos City Police confirmed that the officer is currently held at the station’s holding unit while investigators gather statements from all parties involved. The officer’s firearm and identification card have been temporarily confiscated.
“The Malolos PNP strongly condemns any form of violence, especially against women. We do not condone any violation of laws and PNP regulations,” the station said in an official statement. It added that the victim is currently at the police station to pursue the filing of appropriate charges.
Meanwhile, the National Police Commission vowed swift action on the case.
“Bilang na ang mga araw mo nilang pulis. We will not allow any form of violence against any woman, or any person for that matter. We will make sure that justice is served. This is an open and shut case. Pasensyahan tayo dito,” said Commissioner Ralph Calinisan.
He also directed regional officials to locate the victim and expedite the investigation, adding that justice will be “quick, as it should be.”
Authorities said the case remains under investigation as both administrative and criminal complaints are being evaluated.
