The Malacañang Complex will be placed under lockdown on Monday, Sept. 21, amid expected mass protests by various groups marking the anniversary of the declaration of martial law.
The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said the New Executive Building (NEB), which houses several Malacañang offices, will be closed as part of “standard security protocols.”
In a separate advisory, the Presidential Action Center announced the suspension of its operations to ensure the safety of everyone inside the Palace complex.
“Access to roads and gates leading to the Palace will also be restricted due to heightened security measures. These restrictions are part of the standard operating procedures implemented at this alert level,” it says. security protocols,” the PCO said.
To ensure the continuity of government operations, Malacañang employees will shift to a work-from-home setup.
Malacañang also appealed to protest organizers and demonstrators to keep their rallies orderly and peaceful, saying President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. remains open to hearing their concerns.
Meanwhile, the Manila city government earlier suspended in-person classes at all levels following a recommendation from the police.
