Malacañang is set to host a homecoming reception Monday evening for Filipino tennis star Alex Eala, with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. leading the event in recognition of her historic run at Wimbledon.

The reception is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on July 13, according to palace officials.

Marcos earlier praised Eala for her performance on the world stage, calling her a “world-class” athlete following her breakthrough campaign at the prestigious Grand Slam tournament.

The president also described the young tennis standout as a source of inspiration, particularly for Filipino youth aspiring to excel in sports.

Eala made history as the first Filipina to be seeded at No. 29 in Wimbledon and the first to reach the Round of 16 in the tournament.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said details on possible incentives for Eala have yet to be confirmed, noting she would defer to the president on the matter.

Eala’s Wimbledon campaign further cemented her status as one of the Philippines’ brightest athletes on the international stage.
