Malacañang clarified that government officials who resigned amid allegations of anomalous flood control projects will not be spared from investigation, stressing that there is no agreement granting immunity to those who stepped down.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has directed authorities to investigate all individuals possibly involved in the alleged irregularities, including former officials who have already resigned or left the country.
Castro emphasized that if evidence links former Cabinet secretaries, undersecretaries, or other officials to the anomalies, they may still face criminal charges despite no longer holding office.
The Palace also stressed that being abroad will not shield any individual from accountability, as legal processes will continue regardless of their location.
Former Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary (DPWH) Manny Bonoan, who was removed from office amid the controversy, has yet to return to the country, according to officials.
