Malacañang is set to release an official statement following separate meetings between Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and diplomats from France and the Czech Republic, as discussions reportedly involved international coordination efforts concerning the Philippine government.
According to Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Dave Gomez, the president has concluded his meetings with French Ambassador Marie Fontanel and Czech Republic Chargé d’Affaires Eva Tenzin, though no specific details about the discussions have been disclosed. The palace confirmed that a formal statement is being prepared to clarify the outcomes of the diplomatic engagements. The meetings come amid evolving developments involving former lawmaker Zaldy Co, who had earlier been held under the custody of Czech authorities due to immigration-related concerns, with his liberty reportedly restrained despite not being formally arrested. Recent reports indicate that Co is no longer in Czech custody and is now in France, where he has reportedly filed a petition for political asylum. French authorities have allegedly requested his transfer to their jurisdiction in connection with the application, prompting continued diplomatic coordination involving both European states. Despite these developments, Malacañang has yet to officially confirm full details regarding Co’s status as well as the specific outcomes of the President’s meetings with foreign envoys. The government maintains that it will pursue all available legal and diplomatic channels to bring Co back to the Philippines.
