Malacañang expressed confidence in the constitutionality of the 2026 national budget despite concerns raised by some lawmakers over the legality of the unprogrammed appropriations under the budget, according to Palace Press Officer Usec. Claire Castro.
In a press briefing, Castro insisted that the 2026 budget is the “cleanest and most orderly” for the Filipino people.
Castro added that Malacañang is prepared to face any petitions that may be filed against the 2026 national budget.
Earlier, House Senior Deputy Minority Leader Rep. Edgar Erice announced that he would file a petition with the Supreme Court challenging the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2026.
The lawmaker is questioning the legality of the unprogrammed appropriations in the budget.
