The House Makabayan bloc will be voting against the ratification of the 2026 General Appropriations Bill (GAB), or next year’s national budget.

House Deputy Minority Leader Antonio Tinio said the bloc remains opposed to the budget despite the bicameral conference committee’s extensive deliberations.

He asserted that the budget still contains what he described as “pork barrel” or Priority Development Assistance Funds (PDAF) for each congressman and senator, coursed through medical services, aid programs, infrastructure, and social welfare projects.

Tinio stressed that while unlikely, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. should veto the budgets allotted for confidential funds and unprogrammed appropriations.

For Kabataan party-list Rep. Renee Co, the President must also veto the ₱8 billion in support of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), provided through the Barangay Support Fund.

Co pointed out that the measure has not been helpful and is instead being used, she claimed, to harass progressive groups and youth organizations.

The Senate and House of Representatives agreed to ratify and transmit the budget to Marcos for signing on December 29, according to reports.
