The Makabayan Bloc in the House of Representatives has filed a resolution calling for an investigation into the alleged mass killing in Toboso, Negros Occidental, which reportedly left 19 individuals dead.

The Makabayan Bloc, together with Kabataan Party-list Representative Atty. Renee Co. is urging a full legislative inquiry into the incident, which they described as a potential case involving serious human rights violations.

The resolution calls on the House Committee on Human Rights to conduct a legislative investigation into possible violations of human rights and international humanitarian law.

It also seeks the support of a “full, independent, and impartial” probe by the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) and other credible human rights organizations.

In addition, the measure condemns what it describes as “excessive and indiscriminate” military operations under the government’s counterinsurgency campaign and calls for the immediate and formal repeal of Memorandum Order No. 32, citing alleged continuing human rights abuses in the Negros Island Region and other covered areas.

The group said the resolution aims to ensure accountability and justice for victims of state-related violence, as it vowed to continue pushing for investigations into alleged abuses linked to security operations.

“Tuloy-tuloy na mananawagan ang Kabataan ng hustisya para sa lahat ng biktima ng karahasan ng estado,” the bloc emphasized in its statement.
