The Atayde family, led by Arjo Atayde, paid a formal visit to the family of his fiancée, Maine Mendoza, as part of a Filipino tradition called "pamamanhikan."

This tradition involves the groom-to-be formally asking for the hand of the bride-to-be from her parents and planning the wedding.

On Monday, June 26, 2023, Arjo's mother, Sylvia Sanchez, shared a video on her Instagram post, showing their family's arrival at Maine's home in Sta. Maria, Bulacan.

The TV host-actress warmly welcomed them with excitement.

"The Very Important destination," Sylvia captioned the video.

Sylvia followed up the post by uploading photos the next day, capturing moments from the pamamanhikan.

Present at the gathering were Sylvia, her husband Art Atayde, and Arjo's siblings Ria, Gela, and Xavi.

Maine's family, on the other hand, included her father Teodoro "Teddy" Mendoza, her mother Mary Ann, her siblings Nico and Coleen, and other relatives.

In the caption of her post, Sylvia expressed, "The Ataydes & Mendozas will soon merge as one family."

Before becoming a couple, Arjo and Maine first worked together in the 2018 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry, "Jack Em Popoy: The Puliscredibles." It was during this time that their special closeness caught the attention of their fans.

As of now, Maine and Arjo have not disclosed any details about their wedding date and venue.

It was on July 28 last year in Cebu when Arjo proposed to Maine.
