A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck off the coast of Quezon province late Wednesday night, with the tremor felt in several parts of Luzon, including Quezon City, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

PHIVOLCS said the earthquake occurred at 10:11 p.m. on July 29, with its epicenter located 93 kilometers north 36 degrees east of Jomalig, Quezon, at coordinates 15.38°N, 122.83°E. The quake had a depth of 10 kilometers.

The agency reported Intensity III in Quezon City.

Instrumental Intensity III was also recorded in the municipalities of Jose Panganiban and Mercedes in Camarines Norte, as well as Guinayangan and Infanta in Quezon.

Meanwhile, Instrumental Intensity II was observed in Ragay, Iriga City, Pili, Sipocot, and Sagnay in Camarines Sur.

PHIVOLCS said no damage is expected from the earthquake. However, the agency warned that aftershocks may occur following the seismic event.

Authorities have yet to report any injuries or damage related to the earthquake.
