Magnitude 5.4 earthquake hits La Union

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) recorded a 5.4 magnitude earthquake in Luna, La Union at 10:36 AM on Saturday, May 24.
Based on the agency’s earthquake information, it was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 10 km.
Its exact location was recorded at 16.88°N, 120.08°E - 031 km N 84° W of Luna (La Union).

Damages and aftershocks are expected from the quake.
In an update, PHIVOLCS said they have downgraded the earthquake to magnitude 5.2. No more damage is expected, but the public is advised to be on the lookout for aftershocks.
