A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck the municipality of General Luna, Surigao del Norte early Friday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

In its earthquake bulletin, PHIVOLCS said the tremor occurred at 5:17 a.m. and had a depth of 10 kilometers.

The agency said no damage is expected from the earthquake. However, it warned that aftershocks may occur in the affected area.
