A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck near the town of General Salipada K. Pendatun in Maguindanao on Saturday evening, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

Phivolcs said the quake occurred at 7:25 p.m. and was tectonic in origin, with a depth of focus of 10 kilometers.

The agency warned that damage and aftershocks are possible following the tremor.

Phivolcs recorded Intensity IV in Lutayan, Sultan Kudarat; Intensity III in Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat; and Intensity II in Magpet, Kidapawan City, and Antipas in Cotabato.

Meanwhile, instrumental Intensity V was monitored in M’lang, Cotabato and President Quirino, Sultan Kudarat.

Instrumental Intensity IV was recorded in President Roxas and Carmen in Cotabato; Malungon in Sarangani; Tampakan, Koronadal City, Tupi, Banga, and Tantangan in South Cotabato; and Isulan, Esperanza, and Columbio in Sultan Kudarat.

Instrumental Intensity III was reported in Magpet, Cotabato; Digos City and Magsaysay in Davao del Sur; Santa Maria in Davao Occidental; Maitum in Sarangani; Santo Niño and Surallah in South Cotabato; and Kalamansig in Sultan Kudarat.
