A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck the area of Manay, Davao Oriental, early Saturday morning, November 1, at around 5:27 a.m., according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

The tremor was recorded as an aftershock of the October Offshore Davao Oriental earthquake.

PHIVOLCS reported Intensity II in Magsaysay, Davao del Sur, while Intensity I was felt in the City of Digos, Davao del Sur, and Sta. Maria, Davao Occidental.

The agency said no damage or aftershocks are expected following the tremor.

PHIVOLCS added that the earthquake was tectonic in origin, indicating that it was caused by the movement of the Earth’s crust rather than volcanic activity.

Authorities continue to monitor the area for any significant developments.
