A magnitude 5.0 earthquake hit Surigao del Sur on Thursday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.
According to the agency’s data, the quake, which occurred at 8:06 a.m., is tectonic in origin, with a depth of 10 kilometers.
The epicenter was located at 08.82°N, 126.67°E, approximately 40 kilometers north-northeast of Marihatag town.
PHIVOLCS said aftershocks or damage are expected following the tremor.
