

A magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck near Balangiga, Eastern Samar, at 12:46 a.m. on Friday, July 10, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
PHIVOLCS said the earthquake's epicenter was located about 29 kilometers south-southwest of Balangiga, Eastern Samar, with a depth of 90 kilometers.
The tremor was felt at Intensity III in the municipalities of Abuyog, Dulag, and Mahaplag in Leyte.
Meanwhile, Intensity II was reported in Hinundayan, Southern Leyte, and Alangalang, Leyte.
The quake was also felt at Intensity I in Baybay and Hilongos in Leyte; Sogod, Southern Leyte; Villareal, Samar; San Francisco, Cebu; and Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.
PHIVOLCS said no damage or aftershocks are expected from the earthquake.
