A magnitude 4.8 earthquake was recorded off General Luna, Surigao del Norte, at 12:04 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026, according to the latest earthquake information from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
The earthquake had a depth of 18 kilometers and was located at 9.76°N, 126.43°E, approximately 30 kilometers south, 85 degrees east of General Luna, Surigao del Norte.
PHIVOLCS reported a felt intensity of II in San Francisco, Southern Leyte.
Instrumental intensities were also recorded at Intensity II in Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, and Intensity I in Hilongos and Abuyog, Leyte.
No damage or casualties were reported in the earthquake information provided.
