A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck the municipality of Guiuan in Eastern Samar at 7:44 PM on Monday, April 20, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS-DOST).

In its initial earthquake bulletin, PHIVOLCS reported that the quake had a depth of 10 kilometers and was tectonic in origin. The epicenter was located at 10.93°N, 126.23°E, approximately 56 kilometers southeast (S 78° E) of Guiuan.

The agency said the quake was felt in parts of Eastern Samar, though no immediate reports of damage or injuries have been confirmed as of posting time.

Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and may release updated information as further assessments are conducted.

Residents are advised to stay alert for possible aftershocks and follow official advisories from PHIVOLCS and local disaster risk reduction offices.
