

A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck west of Tuba, Benguet, at 2:33 PM on Thursday, July 9.
According to PHIVOLCS, the earthquake is tectonic in origin and has a depth of 10 km.
Instrumental intensities one through five were felt in the following areas:
- Intensity V - City of Baguio, BENGUET
- Intensity IV - Aringay, LA UNION
- Intensity III - Sison, PANGASINAN
- Intensity II - Urdaneta, PANGASINAN
- Intensity I - Cuyapo, and Lingayen PANGASINAN
The agency said there are no damages or aftershocks expected from the quake.
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) said in an update that the shallow earthquake caused strong shaking across the region.
Meanwhile, PRC personnel remain on standby to provide immediate assistance like psychosocial support and first aid as needed. The agency is also coordinating with concerned authorities while monitoring the situation to ensure the affected residents’ safety.
"Our Baguio City Chapter staff and volunteers reacted instantly, executing orderly building evacuations to ensure everyone is safe and accounted for," said PRC Chairman and CEO Richard J. Gordon.
Moreover, the PRC said its Baguio Chapter reported strong shaking, which led to precautionary evacuations.
In a separate update, the PRC Baguio City Chapter reported that it is closely monitoring seven students from Baguio City National High School who experienced anxiety after the earthquake.
