A magnitude 4.3 earthquake struck Bogo City, Cebu on Monday, about a week after an initial magnitude 6.9 earthquake rocked the area.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the tremor, which shook the area at 5:57 p.m., is an aftershock of the September 30 quake which originated off the shores of northern Cebu.

Intensity I was felt in Cebu City; Kawayan, Biliran; Villaba, Leyte; and in Hilongos, Leyte.

The aftershock is tectonic in nature. The agency said no damages nor aftershocks are expected to follow.

On Saturday, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) reported that over 5,000 aftershocks had occurred after the 6.9 earthquake.
