A magnitude 4.2 earthquake struck east of Balut Island in the Municipality of Sarangani, Davao Occidental, early Thursday, July 2.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the earthquake occurred at 2:10 a.m.

The quake had a depth of 10 kilometers and was tectonic in origin.

PHIVOLCS said no damage or aftershocks are expected from the earthquake.
