Podcast Machong Chismisan has issued a public apology to Kris Aquino, her son Josh, and the entire Aquino family following widespread backlash over insensitive remarks made about Josh, who is on the autism spectrum.

In a statement, the podcast took full responsibility for its conduct during the controversial episode, acknowledging that its remarks were “inexcusable, deeply insensitive, and hurtful.”

“To Ms. Kris Aquino, Josh, and the entire Aquino family whom we have hurt and aggrieved, we offer our sincerest apologies,” the statement read.

The controversy stemmed from the podcast’s Season 29, Episode 20, titled “Ang Pagbabalik ni Kris Aquino,” which was published on October 5, 2026. A clip from the episode circulated widely on social media, drawing criticism after host Tito P made disparaging remarks about Josh, including calling him “walang kuwenta,” while comparing him with his younger brother, Bimby Aquino.

The discussion also included comments about Josh’s reported daily allowance, prompting further condemnation from netizens.

The remarks sparked broader discussions about disability awareness, responsible content creation, and the treatment of persons with disabilities (PWDs). Critics argued that the comments were hurtful not only to the Aquino family but also to individuals on the autism spectrum and families caring for children with special needs.

In its latest statement, Machong Chismisan extended its apologies to the disability community and the public, recognizing that its actions showed disrespect toward the dignity and experiences of others.

“We recognize that our actions were not only hurtful to the Aquino family but also deeply disrespectful to the dignity and experiences of many others,” it said.

The podcast confirmed that it had proactively removed all content related to the episode, while acknowledging that taking down the material would not undo the harm caused.

The group also expressed willingness to work with organizations and advocates, promoting the rights and welfare of children with special needs and PWDs, including the Autism Society Philippines and the National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA).

“Beyond expressing our deep remorse, we recognize that accountability must be accompanied by meaningful action, a willingness to listen, and a genuine commitment to learning and doing better,” the statement added.

In its apology, the group reiterated its remorse and commitment to taking responsibility for its actions.

“Sa Pamilyang Aquino, lalo na po kina Ms. Kris Aquino at Josh, kami po ay taos-pusong humihingi ng tawad. Nauunawaan po naming hindi sapat ang paghingi ng paumanhin upang mabura ang sakit na aming naidulot,” it said.

The incident has intensified calls for greater sensitivity and accountability among online content creators, particularly when discussing people with disabilities.
