A magnitude 5.0 earthquake jolted Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro, at 9:34 a.m. Wednesday, September 30, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The tectonic earthquake was recorded at a depth of 10 kilometers, with its epicenter located 23 kilometers southwest of Mamburao at 13.19°N, 120.38°E.

Phivolcs recorded an instrumental intensity of IV in Mamburao and Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro.

Intensity III was recorded in Abra de Ilog and Looc in Occidental Mindoro, as well as in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

Meanwhile, instrumental Intensity I was recorded in San Jose, Magsaysay and Calintaan in Occidental Mindoro, and Victoria and Pinamalayan in Oriental Mindoro.

Phivolcs said the earthquake was of tectonic origin.
