The Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed that a retired police general facing administrative complaints has already received her retirement benefits, although her pension may still be reduced depending on the outcome of the case.
PNP spokesperson BGen. Randulf T. Tuaño explained that only two days separated the filing of the complaint and the retirement of the officer, making it impossible to hold the release of her benefits at the time.
Tuaño said that if the retired general is later found guilty of the administrative charges, the PNP will conduct a computation that could lead to a reduction in her pension.
Former Health Service head retired PBGen. Jezebel Imelda Medina is facing complaints for less grave neglect of duty and conduct unbecoming of a police officer, allegedly for violating NAPOLCOM directives and wearing luxury footwear.
Medina is also accused of failing to comply with NAPOLCOM’s order to submit psychiatric and psychological reports of a Quezon City Police District patrolman and vlogger who allegedly posted seditious remarks online during her tenure as Health Service Director.
As of writing, the PNP said Medina has yet to issue a statement regarding the allegations.
