House lead prosecutor Rep. Gerville Luistro on Tuesday urged Vice President Sara Duterte to directly address allegations concerning her reported shareholding in GenCorp Industries Inc., which has been linked to a popular fast-food franchise, before the Senate Impeachment Court.
During a House prosecution press conference, Luistro said Duterte herself declared her shareholding in GenCorp in her 2022 and 2023 Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALNs).
“Perhaps we should remember that it was the respondent herself who made her own admission that she is a shareholder of GenCorp Industries Incorporated,” Luistro said.
She argued that the prosecution was relying on Duterte’s own declarations under oath, adding that the vice president had yet to dispute the reported shareholding.
Luistro also challenged Duterte’s position that owning shares in a company does not necessarily mean owning a franchise, arguing that the distinction should be explained before the impeachment court.
“Siguro mas maganda sagutin niya squarely before the impeachment court so that all her representations will be considered as testimony in court,” Luistro said.
The prosecution official maintained that Duterte should directly clarify her SALN entries, stressing that the documents were submitted by the vice president herself and were not prepared by the prosecution team.
