The Land Transport Office (LTO) has launched a portal and corresponding office to accept and evaluate complaints related to traffic law violations, improper handling of documents, LTO employee misconduct, and so on.

During the “Kuwentuhan with LTO Chief,” Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao said that before he goes to bed, he would review posts online regarding traffic complaints, and found that there were many.

So puwede nilang i-report po dito ‘yung kanilang mga complaint,” he said.

Lacanilao said common complaints include those from buyers who had purchased new vehicles but have not received the necessary documents for them.

So nakapag-isyu kami ng mga show cause orders sa mga dealer,” he said, adding that some recent incidents occurred in Cebu and in Metro Manila.

The land transportation head stressed that if a car dealer fails to process the purchased vehicle’s papers within seven days, buyers can report them to the agency.

Other incidents that complainants can report are LTO employee corruption and misconduct, as well as rule violators and road rage incidents.

If a victim of a vehicular accident is not provided assistance by the individual(s) responsible, they may also seek help from the LTO.

As an example, Lacanilao recounted an incident wherein a jogger was hit by a vehicle at the Mall of Asia in Pasay. The driver, who should have shouldered her medical expenses, neglected to do so. The victim turned to the LTO for assistance, and the agency responded by immediately issuing a show cause order (SCO) against the driver and placing their vehicle and license under alarm.

“Lahat po iyan, kino-consolidate po namin, at anytime, may binuo na rin po ako na isang opisina. Wala pong ginawa ‘yun kundi mag-handle ng mga complaints,” the assistant secretary said.

Complainants may file reports via the following sites/apps:

Once on the website, complainants can click the report button and fill out a form. They are urged to include a complete description of the incident and attach photos and videos as evidence.

“Remember, stronger evidence, faster resolution,” the LTO said. “By reporting, you help promote responsible driving.”
